†Saatchi is thought to have made 20 redundancies at the agency, in the midst of its frantic search for a new chief executive to replace Lee Daley who left earlier this year. The redundancies are not understood to have affected the current agency management.

The agency is currently searching for a new chief executive, with a brief to recruit a high profile figure from the client side. The job came up for grabs earlier this year when chairman and chief executive Daley left to become the global commercial director at Manchester United Football Club, as exclusively revealed on marketingweek.co.uk.

A spokeswoman confirms the redundancies. She adds: “We’ve reviewed staffing across the Saatchi & Saatchi group of companies and as a result we’re consulting with a limited number of individuals on their roles. Regrettably this is likely to result in redundancies for some of our people. We’re going through a period of intense transformation at the agency. We need to make sure we’re in the best place to meet the needs of our clients and our marketplace and that’s what we’re doing. We’re very excited about the future.”
