Saatchi & Saatchi scoops Wall’s Sausages

Kerry Foods has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to handle the estimated £2m ad account for its sausage brand Wall’s.

Saatchi & Saatchi was awarded the account following a pitch against BMB.

It follows the launch last year of a new TV campaign created by then incumbent agency Beattie McGuinness Bungay (BMB). The ads revolved around promoting the “two best bits” of pork that go into its sausages.

BMB axed long-standing brand icon Grizzler the dog.

Earlier this year Kerry Foods appointed Phil Chapman, former T-Mobile marketing director, as its new group marketing director

The Ireland-based food group, which also owns brands including Homepride flour, Cheestrings and Mattessons, brought in Chapman to oversee brand development and promotions from the company’s headquarters.

The Wall’s range includes fresh, frozen and snack size sausages. It also has a bacon line.

Wall’s sausages and bacon have been in British households since 1786. In November 1994 it was acquired by Kerry Foods.

Last year Kerry Foods consolidated its £13m media planning and buying account into Vizeum.
