Saga puts £5.6m of ad business up for pitch

Saga Services, the financial services arm of Saga, the company that specialises in products for the over-50s, is reviewing its &£5.6m advertising account.

Doner Cardwell Hawkins is understood to have been invited to pitch for the business. It is believed that J Walter Thompson, Leo Burnett and AMV Advance will also pitch.

Saga Services’ agency of record, RPM3, has done little work for the company and it is not known whether it will pitch. A television campaign for car insurance, which goes live this week, was created by Doner Cardwell Hawkins on a project basis.

Doner Cardwell Hawkins is retained by Saga Holidays, the separate division dealing with Saga’s original travel business. Previous creative work is understood to have been conducted in house by Saga.

Media buying and planning for Saga’s combined &£9.1m account is also under review. The account is handled by Mediaedge:CIA.

Folkestone-based Saga offers a variety of insurance products, including home, caravan, travel and pet insurance. It also markets pension and investment products, such as annuities and individual ISAs. In addition, Saga offers credit cards, a car buying service, telephone and internet services, nutritional supplements and its own magazine.
