Seagram marketing chief to take top Warner Video role

Seagram’s on-trade marketing director for Chivas, Dominic Chambers, is understood to be leaving the company to join Time Warner subsidiary Warner Home Video (WHV) as director of marketing.

He will replace Wayne Borg, WHV’s director of marketing for UK & Ireland, who left the UK office two months ago to become commercial director for WHV in Australia (MW August 27).

Chambers is expected to join WHV at the end of the month and will report to managing director of WHV Ron Sanders.

Chambers has moved up the Seagram ranks for the past ten years and was originally part of Seagram’s graduate training scheme in 1988. He joined the marketing team in 1990.

Recently, Seagram reported disappointing fourth quarter results due to a slump in sales in Asia. Pre-tax earnings declined by 11 per cent to $248m (148.5m) on rep orted revenues of $2.2bn (1.37bn).

In July, WHV linked up with Buena Vista Home entertainment to forge a digital video disk (DVD) distribution agreement for its titles. It will shortly release a raft of blockbuster films on DVD including Con Air, The Rock and Face/Off.

Warner Home Video’s media planning and buying is handled by Manning Gottlieb Media.
