Sean Jefferson quits Octagon Worldwide

Octagon Worldwide media director Sean Jefferson has quit the Interpublic-owned sports marketing agency after less than three months.

Jefferson, who is joining sponsorship consultancy Arena International as managing director, was promoted to the role in April (MW April 13) from UK division Octagon Marketing. He reported directly to Octagon Worldwide joint managing directors Matthew Wheeler and Tim Moufarrige.

Arena International’s clients include Bass Brewers, where Jefferson worked as a client before switching to the agency side of the business.

Arena has worked for Bass for more than ten years and handles its Carling Premiership sponsorship programme.

Jefferson has worked in a number of sports sponsorship roles at the Lowe Group since joining in 1995 – including spells working on the Littlewoods FA Cup at Lowe Howard-Spink and Western Media – before switching to Octagon when it bought API in 1997.

He says: “I have had five good years at the Lowe Group, but this job gives me the chance to run my own business.”

Jefferson was replaced at Octagon Marketing by sports consultant Jolyon Armstrong. The company has yet to appoint a successor.
