Senior Inbev marketer goes after restructure

Former Nestlé Rowntree marketer Liam Newton has left his role as brand controller at InBev UK following a restructure of the brewer’s marketing department. It is not known if he has a job to go to.

Newton joined Interbrew UK, as the company was then known, in May 2004 as the drinks company’s first brand controller. He oversaw the entire brand portfolio, which includes Stella Artois and Boddington’s.

The company became InBev after it merged with South American brewer AmBev in 2004. There has since been a period of tranCopy to start here. Nimrod MT 7.5 on 10pt Copy to start here. Newton is one of 18 people to be made redundant in the UK marketing team as part of a consolidation of resources following a raft of new launches. His departure at the end of this month has been confirmed. The restructure also saw marketing chief Phil Rumbol given responsibility for the UK and Ireland markets (MW November 17, 2005).

Before joining Interbrew UK, Newton was head of brand marketing at Nestle Rowntree. His role was axed as part of managing director Chris White’s overhaul of the confectionery company’s marketing strategy (MW February 19, 2004).

Newton, tipped as a possible marketing director at Nestlé, had worked on campaigns for After Eight, Rolo and Kit Kat.
