After anointing one Rowan Luckie as a chap who lives up to his fortunate-sounding moniker in this column last week, the Diary was chastened to receive a phone call explaining that Rowan is, in fact, not a chap at all!Indeed Rowan, who has joined Hamley’s marketing team from her previous employer Playboy UK, is proud to be a member of an all-woman marketing team at the toy store.
The Diary humbly tugs what remains of its greying forelock, and offers profuse apologies to Rowan. It must also shamefully admit that it has in the past met folk of both sexes with the name. However, it stands by its claim that Rowan’s career has, thus far, lived up to her surname.
