Silverjet picks head of marketing

Silverjet, the low-cost business class-only carrier, has appointed Anna Lamont as its first head of marketing. She reports to chief executive Lawrence Hunt.

Lamont, who has 13 years of marketing experience in the airline industry with brands such as Etihad Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates, took up her role at the beginning of the week.

She is tasked with developing and implementing a marketing strategy to ensure the Silverjet brand becomes a household name in the UK. She will be responsible for all Silverjet’s UK agencies, managing strategic marketing partnerships and the UK marketing budget.

Lamont will work with Tamarah Khatib, who has been promoted from UK marketing director to head of global online marketing. She will also be responsible for all global online marketing channels and the online global budget.

The newly launched company is looking to place more emphasis on brand partnerships, including a joint venture with publisher Thames & Hudson to distribute its magazines during flights. Silverjet launched earlier this year with a London to New York route from a private terminal at London Luton Airport. The average return fare is £999.
