SkillsMarket, the online CV service, is rebranding its flagship online service as iProfile, as part of a strategy to raise its profile with consumers.

The company relaunches the service, which was previously focused on the professional service sector, this week. The new site allows users to import information to help them develop an online CV, which can then be shared with recruitment agencies.

The company is also in talks with five job sites, and is keen to extend the service into professional and social networks.

SkillsMarket, which will remain the company name, says that the iProfile service will automatically format a candidate’s information in a way that makes it easier to match users with relevant jobs. Candidates can select skill sets that are appropriate to them, meaning recruiters can quickly identify them when searching candidate databases.

Users can then track job applications and view an activity summary of all interactions with their iProfile, including who has viewed it and how often, as well as comments from recruiters.

The relaunch of the site follows the appointment of Karl Gregory, the former head of search marketing at Yahoo!, as marketing director last November.

SkillsMarket was founded in 2001 by Daniel Elkins and Alex Charles. It launched into the IT sector in 2002, but has extended into new markets over recent years. It currently has 2.5 million people signed up and is used by 2,500 recruitment agencies.
