Sky and Chrysalis plan Sky News Radio launch

BSkyB and Chrysalis Radio have announced plans to launch a 24-hour news radio service under the Sky News brand if the consortium bid for the second national digital multiplex headed by Channel 4 is successful.

Sky News Radio, which would launch next year, would offer a 24-hour rolling news service combined with analysis. It would cover the UK and international news.

The move would see Chrysalis rebrand the existing LBC 1125AM rolling news services as Sky News Radio for London with local news, traffic and travel, weather and sport.

Phil Riley, chief executive of Chrysalis, says: “Sky News Radio will also be made available via the internet and Sky’s digital satellite platform in due course.”
