Space NK lines up the7stars for major UK ad campaign

Space NK, the luxury cosmetics retailer, has appointed the7stars to handle media planning and buying for its first major UK advertising campaign. It is understood to be worth £1m.

The appointment follows a pitch involving a number of undisclosed agencies. The agency was appointed by Space NK founder Nicky Kinnaird.

The campaign, which breaks on November 10, has been developed by Wieden & Kennedy, which won the business last December. The agency is working with Space NK to develop an ad to run in cinemas and on Film Four.

Kinnaird says: “I am confident our campaign will be appreciated by our existing Space NK customers and will attract new consumers to the brand.”

It is understood the campaign aims to create a warmer feel to the brand as consumer research shows people think the stores are clinical. The agency has also been briefed to raise awareness of the brand in the UK.

The retailer also appointed Haygarth earlier this year to work alongside W&K. It has developed a corporate gift service.

Space NK, which launched in 1993, has 43 stores and a number of concessions across the UK.

It also has a dedicated store for men, which opened last year, and a beauty salon, Spa.NK. It stocks over 60 high-end cosmetics and fragrance brands, including Stila and Philosophy.
