Spotify appoints UK managing director

Music streaming service, Spotify, has appointed Paul Brown to the new role of UK managing director.

Brown will join from US music service Pandora where he was managing director, international.

He is due to commence in his new role on April 20. Together with overseeing the general management of the UK business, his key responsibilities will include a combination of strengthening Spotify’s label relationships and building relationships with artists and management. He will also oversee business development with third party partners.

Brown will work closely with Jon Mitchell, UK advertising sales director, to push ad sales and grow the company’s premium subscription business.

Prior to joining Pandora, Brown was a director at Sony Music UK where he worked for six years.

Meanwhile, Spotify has tied up with MTV UK and The Body Shop to offer playlists from artists to help promote safe sex.

Last month Spotify signed a deal with 7digital to offer MP3 downloads.
