The Marketing Society’s annual ‘Sprintathon’ is back for 2024 and this time it has a significant milestone in sight.

The charity event, which raises funds for both Stand Up to Cancer and The Marketing Society, aims to surpass the £1m total fundraising mark this year. Currently sitting at £910k, the Sprintathon needs the marketing industry’s help to reach its £1m fundraising goal.

Brands, agencies and media owners are all invited to put a team forward for the two-hour charity event, in which teams of four will each complete a relay of 400m (100m per person) back-to-back until they collectively cover 42.2km, the distance of a marathon.

So far, brands including Birds Eye, Boots, EasyJet, HSBC and Mondelez have registered teams, alongside agencies like BBH, Adam&EveDDB, McCann London, Omnicom and Pablo, as well as industry bodies Thinkbox and the Advertising Association.

All raised funds will be split between Stand Up to Cancer, where £100,000 can fund the research of a scientist looking to treat cancer, and The Marketing Society, where the money will be used to support future marketing talent.

The mass participation charity event has been hosted in partnership with Cancer Research UK and Direct Line Group’s former managing director of marketing and digital, Mark Evans, since 2016. Indeed, 2024 marks the fourth year the event has been hosted by The Marketing Society.

There is also a competitive element to the competition, with a fastest lap time up for grabs for the team who really get a shift on. No experience is needed as all are welcome to join for a day of team bonding and fundraising.

The event will take place on 12 June at Battersea Park Millennium Arena starting at 3.30pm. The cost to enter a team is £1,000 plus VAT.
