Standard Life Bank unveils TV campaign

Standard Life Bank launches its first TV ad campaign next week with a series of executions featuring people using imaginary telephone handsets – a device which sparked a row with BT last month.

The 750,000 TV push through The Union breaks on May 11, following a press campaign. Four executions will run on terrestrial and satellite channels throughout Scotland and the Granada region.

In April, a row broke out over which company used the hand device first. Standard Life accused BT of copying its “invisible phone” trademark in its “Good Vibrations” commercials.

The matter was resolved after an “amicable agreement” and BT discontinued its ad.

The new commercials feature business and personal savings accounts and focus on the simplicity of telephone banking.

A corporate campaign for Standard Life will follow later this year.
