Standard Life names marketing chief

Standard Life has appointed former Experian and Barclays marketer Bruce Kelsall as marketing director for its UK business.

He will replace Andrew Gillespie who has left personal reasons, according to a spokeswoman. It is not known whether he has a job to go to.

Kelsall has been working as a consultant at Standard Life since September.

He has previously held senior marketing roles at Experian and Barclays, where he held the position of commercial director for retail banking.

Gillespie, a former group marketing director at Barclays, joined in October 2008.

Standard Life completed a restructure of its UK marketing team last May. The restructure involved the separation of marketing and product development and is to lead to the creation and abolition of a number of roles.

Earlier today (20 January), Standard Life’s Assurance business was fined £2.45m by the Financial Services Authority for “misleading” marketing.
