Green & Black’s, the luxury chocolate brand, is understood to have appointed Starcom to handle its 2m media planning and buying account.

The agency won the business after a competitive pitch against a number of undisclosed agencies. It is understood that Green & Black’s marketing director Mark Palmer oversaw the pitch and it is not clear if incumbent Matters Media repitched.

Starcom already handles the 14m media account for Green & Black’s parent company Cadbury. The confectionery giant acquired the brand last year after buying a 5% equity stake in it in 2002.

The deal has allowed Cadbury to buy into the luxury chocolate market and helped Green & Black’s to develop internationally. Cadbury currently runs the brand as a standalone company.
