Subway cuts salt by 19%

Subway has reduced salt levels in its sub sandwiches by an average of 19% as part of its Health & Wellbeing Commitments drawn up last year in conjunction with the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The salt reduction campaign is part of the FSA’s efforts to get the food industry to reduce the levels of salt in their foods.

Subway says it has already exceeded the FSA’s average salt reduction target of 15% and it plans to lower it further by the end of the year.

In May this year the FSA released revised voluntary salt reduction targets for food brands to meet by 2012.
