Tambrands boss axed after P&G takeover

Magdalena Teare has become the most high-profile marketing casualty of Procter & Gamble’s 1bn purchase of Tambrands (MW April 17).

The marketing director for UK and Ireland left the company last week following the effective closure of Tambrands’ Woking office – it will be used temporarily as an operating centre for the Tampax brand.

P&G refuses to reveal how many people have been made redundant as a result of the closure of the Woking office.

Responsibility for Tampax marketing has been transferred to P&G’s Newcastle offices, with Richard Naylor becoming brand manager and Sophie Devonshire assistant brand manager on Tampax.

P&G refuses to comment on what has happened to the rest of the Tambrands marketing department, which numbered six people.

The restructure means that some Tambrands marketing staff will move to P&G’s European headquarters in Germany.

They include product brand manager Carla Luini, Anne Wise, who is responsible for Tambrands’ education programme, and international marketing director Linda Miller.
