Telegraph and Guardian raise cover price

The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian will raise their Saturday cover prices by 10p, starting this weekend (September 6). The move follows the decision by The Times to increase the price of its weekday editions last week.

Telegraph Media Group will increase the cost of The Daily Telegraph’s Saturday edition from £1.50 to £1.60. It is also increasing the price of its weekday edition from 80p to 90p although the Sunday Telegraph will not raise its price.

Guardian Media Group will increase the price of the Guardian on Saturday from £1.50 to £1.60 this weekend, but weekday editions and The Observer’s price will remain unchanged.

At 90p, the Daily Telegraph will become the most expensive weekday newspaper. Its rivals, The Guardian and The Times, retail at 80p. Earlier this year, Associated Newspapers increased the Daily Mail’s cover price by 5p to 50p and the Financial Times raised its price by 20p to £1.50.
