Tesco loses brand chief …

Tesco brand chief James Condon, the former head of global marketing for George at Asda, is leaving the retailer after less than two years in the job. It is not known if Condon has a job to go to.

Condon joined Tesco in January 2007 as head of brand communications and trade planning and reported to commercial and trading director Richard Brasher.

He succeeded Ian Crook, who was promoted to marketing director in August 2006. Crook has since been promoted to marketing director for Tesco online.

A statement from Tesco says: “After nearly two years in the role of brand communications and trade planning director, James Condon has decided to leave Tesco. James joined Tesco from Asda where he was head of global marketing for George Clothing. We would like to thank him for his work with us and wish him well in the future.”

Condon joined Asda to head the marketing for George in 2003. During his tenure at the retailer, he oversaw the roll out of the standalone George outlets.
