Tesco is to cut ‘about 100’ head office staff in a current ‘review’ of costs ahead of finalising budgets for the next financial year.

It has not yet emerged which departments will be affected by the expected cuts. The supermarket says it is part of its current drive to ‘invest in stores and reduce prices for customers.’

It previously announced it would add 10,000 jobs this year as a result of new store openings and the expansion of areas such as Tesco Personal Finance.
