Being a football fan, the Diary was interested to discover a website dedicated to the lowest common denominator in the footballing world. The site, uglyfootballers.com, has everything fans need to console themselves after watching their team crash to a 3-0 defeat.
Its creator Richard Hardy dubs the site “a compilation of the ugliest sights in football, including players, fans and referees.” He has now appointed new media agency Astute Media to find a sponsor to launch the site officially.
Astute Media account director Steve Noctor says: “Uglyfootballers.com could add real street cred to a brand.” Note the word “could”.
What brand would want to associate itself with ugly footballers? Perhaps ITV1’s The Premiership, or would that be life imitating art?
