One particular type of small bun, for instance, was priced at 31p. But, according to the helpful sign accompanying them, customers could choose to buy four of them for just £1.24. ‘What a splendid offer,’ thought the Diary. ‘And look at that! Curd tarts, at 39p apiece, can be purchased in bulk at the rate of four for £1.56. How does Greggs do it?’ The Diary, needless to say, has put on weight in the past week.
