Planning manager, Edit

My first job out of university was in finance but I found I was more interested in how the company was marketing itself and attracting customers than in the job I was there to do.

From there, I took an entry level job at a digital advertising startup to learn the ropes and get involved in as much as I could. I have now been in marketing for four years.

I think raising awareness is key to getting more young people into marketing. When I was at school I didn’t have any idea that marketing was a job. Giving children the opportunity to get involved is also invaluable because otherwise it can seem a bit abstract. Marketing is an industry for curious people who like a challenge, and that curiosity is definitely something that appeals to children.
