Marketing executive, Taylor & Francis Group

For me, getting into marketing was a sideways step. I worked for a recruitment company and found it wasn’t for me so moved into the marketing team for an academic publishers, Taylor & Francis, and soon discovered it had all the creative and innovative elements I was looking for.

I have been in marketing for three years. I wanted something that was creative and allowed me to come up with ideas, which marketing not only does but actively encourages.

Marketing can be quite a hard term to grasp and often people don’t really know what it involves so people don’t think of it as a career because they can’t conceptually understand what it is. It is important for school children to know just how diverse a marketing role can be. Whether you are a numbers person, an arty person, a creative or a writer, there are roles out there and many more besides.
