I studied law at university but quickly decided being a lawyer wasn’t for me. After university I began an internship at a PR agency and absolutely loved it.
One of the best things about my internship was that it showed me how many routes you can take within marketing. From corporate PR to consumer, influencer and digital marketing and content creation.
That was seven years ago and I have been in PR ever since (except a gap in the middle where I ran my own street food business).
The term ‘marketing’ sounds so broad, how can young people even begin to understand what the industry involves? We need to teach children about all of the different types of marketing, the routes into it and what they can do to access the industry. We just need to open their eyes to how amazing a career in marketing can be and where it can take them.
