I was introduced to marketing at a university open day which drove me to undertake a marketing and management degree. I’ve been working in the industry for two years now and recently started a purely marketing-focused role.

I was blown away by how little I actually knew about marketing and how passive I had been as a consumer, which inspired me to want to know more.

The industry needs to increase awareness of marketing as a career from an early stage since I hadn’t experienced any educational focus on marketing until I started university, which is too late. By bringing awareness to children at secondary school level it makes marketing a potential career option rather than a last-minute career choice, which sometimes is the case in our industry.
