The Marketing Academy welcomes its 2020 Scholars

Thirty marketing executives will take part in this year’s Scholarship, which aims to help them develop the skills they need to take up senior and board-level roles.

The Marketing Academy is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year

The Marketing Academy has revealed the marketing executives who have made it onto its much coveted Scholarship programme for 2020.

This year, the Scholarship’s 11th, there were a record number of nominations, with 700 marketers from brands, media owners and agencies competing for just 30 places. The programme, which is free, is designed to help emerging marketing leaders develop their skills and prepare them for their journey towards senior and board-level positions. Marketing Week is the academy’s media partner.

The Scholarship will span 12 months this year, rather than nine, to ensure the programme can be delivered in full despite the coronavirus pandemic. It will include virtual sessions and residential boot camps later in the year. It is funded by partners Facebook, KFC, ITV, Accenture, PHD and BT, and includes mentoring sessions with executives including Pearl & Dean CEO Kathryn Jacob, O2 CMO Nina Bibby and Publicis Groupe UK CEO Annette King.

The Marketing Academy’s global CEO, Sherilyn Shackell, says: “This is the first year we can’t greet the new class in person, but we’re very much looking forward to getting to know them virtually. I have a suspicion that 2020 will prove to be a defining year for our entire community and I’m thrilled to be welcoming the new Scholars at a time when the need for connectivity, collaboration and inspiring leadership has never been higher.”
