The Sun isn’t so mad about beef

The Sun is never one to mince its words, especially when it comes to the latest “mad cow” crisis. Witness last Tuesday’s uncompromising editorial plastered all over the Currant Bun’s front page – a treatment saved only for the most serious crises.

The Sun spoke its mind, defiantly stating: “Hysteria has taken over from commonsense as we contemplate destroying 4 million cattle because of yet another food scare. And that’s all it is. A SCARE.”

But in case anyone was a bit nervous, or having reservations about that bloody meat, The Sun had a front-page offer alongside the adamantine editorial – for a BEEF-FREE BREAKFAST, free to Sun readers who collect four tokens. As the editorial philosophically points out: “It’s not the cows who are mad, it’s us humans.”
