Three-in-one card to be called OnePulse

Barclaycard’s three-in-one Oyster, credit and contactless payment card will be called OnePulse, the credit card giant has announced. The combined card will launch across London in September and will be the only UK credit card that combines the Transport for London Oyster travel card with a credit card facility.

Barclaycard’s three-in-one Oyster, credit and contactless payment card will be called OnePulse, the credit card giant has announced. The combined card will launch across London in September and will be the only UK credit card that combines the Transport for London Oyster travel card with a credit card facility.

Chief marketing officer Elizabeth Chambers claims the name was chosen to reflect London’s “sense of energy”, while highlighting the card’s three-in-one feature.
She says: “We believe Barclaycard OnePulse is the future of payments in London.”

Barclaycard is expected to launch a city-wide marketing push to promote OnePulse in August and September. It won the contract to provide Oyster-backed credit cards in London in December last year.

The cards will use Visa payWave contactless technology, which will allow fast payment at contactless terminals for transactions under £10 and chip and pin for larger amounts. The Oyster function will operate independent of the credit facility.
