Mobile operator Three has appointed mobile marketing veteran Lianne Norry to fill its vacant director of brand and communications role.

Lianne Norry joins Three as director of brand and communications.

She becomes responsible for boosting consumer awareness and consideration for the UK’s fourth biggest mobile operator and reports into Three marketing director Tom Malleschitz.

The company embarked on a strategy in 2012 to become a “marketing-led” organisation and in 2013 launched its first major brand campaign in more than four years, starring a moonwalking Shetland Pony.

Norry replaces Margaret Burke who left the company in September last year without a job to go to.

Norry says: ”Three has created a fantastic network, challenged the industry to deliver more to customers and established itself as a brand based on enjoyment and sharing. I’m looking forward to building on this and plan to put the customer front and centre of all we do.”

She has more than a decade of experience in working as a senior marketer for major mobile brands. Most recently she served as global vice president of marketing for Sony Mobile, a role she held for almost seven years.

Prior to that Norry was senior director of global marketing for Nokia where she worked on the launch of its Lumia smartphone range and has previously held roles as global marketing director for Motorola and director of marketing and retail for Orange.
