TMV and Sainsbury’s team up to offer sample stands

The Media Vehicle Group (TMV), the company that sells ad space on supermarket trolleys, is to allow advertisers the chance to offer samples of their products in supermarket car parks.

The ambient media specialist will be offering the service, called Car Park Sampling, in 250 car park sites at Sainsbury’s stores.

TMV already has the contract to sell advertising space on 135,000 trolleys in 365 Sainsbury’s stores, and also controls the trolley advertising on behalf of Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Safeway, Somerfield and Kwik Save.

The scheme will enable advertisers to rent space for promotions using mobile units, and larger stands in car parks. Advertisers will be able to book stands daily or weekly.

Advertisers will also be able to target shoppers nationally, regionally or at stores. TMV says it will enable advertisers to communicate a brand experience directly to the shopper prior to entering the store.

US company Clear Channel recently acquired a 30 per cent stake in TMV. Clear Channel, which owns the outdoor advertising company More Group, invested &£5m in the company to accelerate TMV’s international expansion.
