‘Too early’ for successor to Chris Martin

Burkitt Edwards Martin says it has not decided whether to replace founder and executive creative director Chris Martin, who died in an accident last week.

Managing director Bob Edwards, who worked with Martin for 28 years, says: “It’s much too early to say what we will do. Chris will be deeply missed, he is irreplaceable as a partner but I know he wouldn’t want this to undermine the business.”

Martin died trapped in a garden drainage tank. Hampshire police says there are no suspicious circumstances.

Edwards says Martin was most proud of his work for Cadbury’s Buttons, Volvo and Johnson & Johnson.

“He was very down to earth and loved doing ads for real people,” says Edwards.
