Top 10 YouTube ads in July

The big four supermarkets have faced a lot of questions about the quality of their ads recently. However two – Tesco and Asda – silenced the critics by making it into the top 10 this month. Always’ latest Like A Girl ad also extended the ongoing campaign’s viral dominance, while babies sharing their ‘poo faces’ was a hit for Pampers UK.

1. Always: #LikeAGirl – Unstoppable

The latest ad in P&G’s powerful #LikeAGirl campaign for Always has been another big hit. The new Leo Burnett ad, “Unstoppable,” features a diverse group of girls and young women talking about the limitations they’ve experienced as a result of social stereotypes.

2. EE UK: The Wembley Cup Series Trailer

This trailer, produced by POKE, celebrates EE’s new Wembley Cup Series. The series features 28 of YouTube’s top football content creators for a topical behind-the-scenes look at the beautiful game.

3. Pepsi Max: Drive-Thru Jams feat. Super Tall Paul

DJ and comedian Super Tall Paul makes picking up a bucket of fried chicken at a KFC drive-through into a bizarre disco with this new ad from Pepsi Max. This AMVBBDO ad features Paul turning KFC customers’ Pepsi Max orders into a live music performance.

4. Coca Cola: Remove labels this Ramadan

Coca Cola worked with McCann on this socially-conscious ad for the Middle East market. It celebrates the diverse characters celebrating Ramadan.

5. Cornetto UK: Cornetto Love Stories – Two Sides

Cornetto UK plays Cupid with this creative ad [MOFILM and RSA]. It reveals the inner thoughts of young people in love.

Using Strauss and his ‘Also sprach Zarathustra’ – the epic classical composition that graces Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi 2001 Space Odyssey – as the soundtrack to baby’s pooing, this hilarious Pampers ad was created by Saatchi & Saatchi.

7. Tesco: Tesco Mobile – World’s biggest emoji

In this ad (created by Fanclub PR and XYZ), Tesco Mobile puts a fresh spin on emojis by crafting a giant smiley in a crop field. Don’t worry, aliens are not responsible!

8. Asda: The #pockettap is back!

Asda has brought back its iconic ‘That’s Asda Price’ pocket tap for this new VCCP-created ad celebrating the retailer’s 50-year-anniversary.

9. GoPro: GoPro HERO4 Session: So small. So stoked.

Probably worth avoiding if you’re afraid of heights, this “totally extreme” ad from US-based GoPro shows the epic moments its cameras are able to capture.

10. Compare The Meerkat: Hummer / Compare the Market

Promoting its 2 for 1 Cinema offer, Arnie is once again stalked by meerkats in the latest ad from Compare The Market. It is also VCCP’s second creation on this month’s list.

Brands collaborating with YouTube bloggers were a bit hit in June, with five of the top 10 featuring vloggers in ads from Coca-Cola, Pepsi Max and Levi’s. However it was Pampers that made it to the top of the charts, proving emotional ads featuring new born babies are still the way to a YouTube success.
