Top Optical Express man in sudden exit

Optical Express’ marketing chief is leaving the company on the eve of a new advertising campaign.

Paul Mason, head of marketing and communications at the Glasgow-based high-street opticians chain, is leaving at the end of the week to resume his former career in the call centre sector as managing director of Glasgow-based Bellcom.

Optical Express chief executive and managing director David Moulsdale will be responsible for marketing until a successor is appointed.

The company recently moved its £2m media buying account to Media Vision in Edinburgh, out of CIA Medianetwork Scotland. Coltas remains the creative agency of record.

Mason says a new ad campaign breaking this week in the regional and local press will relaunch the brand in England, where 62 of the company’s 92 stores are located.

Optical Express came under fire in the Scottish press recently over its debt payment record.
