Toys ‘R’ Us launches UK loyalty, credit card

Toys ‘R’ Us, the world’s largest toy retailer, is launching a loyalty card today (Wednesday) in UK stores. Next month the company will join forces with Visa to introduce a co-branded credit card.

The card, called the Geoffrey Gold Card after the Giraffe character featured in the retailer’s last advertising campaign, is being offered to customers with incentive discount vouchers worth up to 50 per cent of the cost of their purchases.

Toys ‘R’ Us has not advertised the card, which is free and available from today.

Shoppers earn points when they spend a minimum of 10. A spend of between 100 and 199.99 entitles the gold card holder to 50 worth of money-off coupons.

The company is keeping quiet about moves to follow its US counterpart and launch a co-branded credit card next month.

The chain was the first toy retailer in the US to bring out a co-branded credit card in September. It rewards shoppers with free toys and clothes.
