Travel campaign promotes the Midlands to US tourists

East Midlands Tourism, part of East Midlands Development Agency, and Advantage West Midlands, a regional development agency, are launching a three-year campaign to promote the area to US tourists.

The campaign aims to encourage group travel operators in the US to promote iconic attractions such as the Royal Shakespeare Company and Althorp, the home of the Spencer family and where Princess Diana is buried.

Robin Tjolie, the US-based travel expert, will also promote the area at trade events such as the forthcoming Educational Travel Conference in New Orleans, the National Tour Association in Pittsburgh and the United States Tour Operators Association.

Ruth Hyde, tourism director for East Midlands Development Agency says that the alliance will provide a new marketing opportunity and enhance the destination’s profile among the trade consumers in the US market.
