Tuck all at Cott’s ‘Canadian’ feast

The Diary was interested to receive an invitation for the launch of Barker’s Liquid Gold, an alcoholic cola from Cott, which is marketed by Merrydown.

The invitation promised a feast of Canadiana, and the Diary was expecting at least a performance from Jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, or a few words from Canadian actor William Shatner, otherwise known as Star Trek’s legendary Captain Kirk.

But the main attraction was the promise of “Canadian Fayre”. Having eaten nothing since lunch time, the Diary was excited at the prospect of a few bison burgers doused with maple-leaf syrup. On the night, it was surprising to find that pitta bread and humous, vol-au-vents and crisps counted as Canadian Fayre. With not a bison in sight, the Diary hurriedly made excuses, and left.
