Turner Broadcasting promotes Kupsky to EMEA role

Turner Broadcasting has promoted Jeff Kupsky to president of Turner Broadcasting System Europe, covering Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

He will take control of all EMEA television and multi-platform operations including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TCM (Turner Classic Movies) and all commercial activities for CNN International.

Kupsky’s appointment is effective immediately. He replaces Nan Richards, who has left the company after 19 years.

Louise Sams, president of Turner Broadcasting System International, says: “Jeff’s promotion acknowledges the strategic and operational leadership he has provided to the Europe team over the past several years. He is known throughout the EMEA marketplace as an innovative, experienced and effective business person, and regarded within the organisation as a knowledgeable, consistently outstanding executive.”

The news comes the day CNN announced that Lexus Hybrid, the carmaker, is the first advertiser to sign to the news channel’s new mobile service.

CNN Mobile is re-launching this week as the network’s first direct-to-consumer WAP service.

Lexus Hybrid will have banner ads on the mobile site at launch and a pre and post advertising roll on the ‘Worlds News Now’ video update available on 3G phones.
