UD hunts for global boss

United Distillers is seeking a worldwide brands director following recent changes to its management structure.

The role will be to develop the company’s whiskies and gins brands, valued at an estimated 2.6bn a year.

Several high-profile marketing directors have been approached.

The position was made available after worldwide marketing director Ian Meakins expanded his responsibilities to take on a wider role.

It was felt the emphasis on brand development had to be sustained by creating a new position, says a spokeswoman.

The new director will be responsible for all aspects of United Distillers portfolio, including cust omer planning and brand and media development.
