Universal McCann promotes Breijer to regional president

Universal McCann, the Interpublic Group-owned media network, has appointed Diederik Breijer as president of Europe, Middle East and Asia. Breijer will report to Graham Duff, EMEA president of IPG Mediabrands.

Breijer has been chief executive of Universal McCann Netherlands since 2005 and held the deputy post for two years prior to that. He joined the media agency in 2001 as group media director working across brands including Bacardi, Coca-Cola and L’Oreal. Previously, he worked for OMD Netherlands and Wegener Media.

Duff has been covering the role since being promoted to head the Universal McCann and Initiative networks across the region earlier this year (MW December 6, 2007). His promotion was part of a global IPG restructure that also saw Nick Brien, the worldwide chief executive of Universal McCann, take a global role across the two networks.

Earlier this month Jerry Hill, the former Initiative UK and Ireland chief executive resigned following the agency’s loss of the £75m UK planning and buying account for Orange, the France Telecom-owned mobile operator.
