Velvet and Andrex can roll over

Upon reading that the ad above had been handed a “creative excellence” award by the Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA), the Diary came skidding to a halt in surprise.

Not because it’s a bum ad – far from it, it certainly doesn’t merit a panning – it’s something else; something the Diary can’t quite put a finger through. And while Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy will no doubt be pleased that its creatives wiped the, er, floor, with the competition, the Diary wonders whether newspaper owners will be quite so pleased with the message it sends about their medium.
