Online gas and electricity company Virgin Energy has appointed London Electricity head of retail strategy Simon Carter to the newly- created post of commercial director.

Carter will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers such as London Electricity. Virgin Energy is a subsidiary of the Virgin Group’s online home services division Virgin Home.

He will negotiate relationships with providers of new services – other than gas and electricity – which Virgin Home plans to offer, such as telecoms.
