Virgin Media content CEO Malcolm Wall steps down

Malcolm Wall, CEO of content for Virgin Media, is to leave the company in April to pursue other interests.

Wall presided over a series of digital developments for Virgin Media TV including extending the reach of channels including Bravo, Challenge, Living and Trouble online.

He was also responsible for Virgin Media’s TV-on-demand service, signing deals with a string of content partners including BBC iPlayer, ITV and Channel 4 to offer subscribers over 4,600 hours of shows.

Virgin Media announced it received 516m on-demand views in 2008 and accounted for almost a third of all iPlayer views.

Virgin Media CEO Neil Berkett said Wall’s influence formed a vital part of the broadcaster’s online growth.

“His long experience in broadcasting, combined with an acute understanding of the changes that are taking place in the industry, has helped steer our content business into the digital age,” said Berkett.
