Virgin Media sees customers increase spend

Virgin Media has posted second quarter results showing a small rise in total customer revenues to £758 million for its second quarter financial results.

Virgin Media offers digital TV, broadband, mobile and landline telephony and during the period it recorded its highest ever average monthly spend by its customers of £43.27.

It also posted its highest total of customer subscriptions with 95,700 new sign ups.
Total revenue for the company fell slightly to £9.36 million from £940m. It has posted operating income of £15 million, a turnaround from the loss of £328 million recorded for the second quarter in 2008.

Virgin Media launched a TV campaign to promote its pay TV offering in July under the banner powerful stuff.

In June it launches its first TV advertising campaign for its mobile products since the company was formed in 2007 sales of mobile contracts rose 60% in the period.

In a recent Ofcom survey among ISPs Virgin Media was found to provide the fastest service.

Virgin Media TV (VMtv), owner of the Living channels, is currently up for sale and it is thought BSkyB and Time Warner are keen to acquire the division.
