Virgin Media unveils retail expansion plans

Virgin Media is to open its first London high street stores by the end of the year as part of a bid to treble its retail footprint ‘in a year’.

It has already upped its total of own-branded stores to 27 this year with openings in central Birmingham, Plymouth, Bromley, Leeds and Leicester.

The mobile to broadband retailer will open two stores in London “in the coming months.”

It also says it plans to expand further over the next three years with a new “retail lite” concept. The “shops without walls” concept will start appearing in shopping centres across the UK including Meadowhall in Sheffield, The Victoria Centre in Nottingham and The Ropewalk in Nuneaton.

The new concept is designed to “showcase the digital home.”

Virgin Media saw a record fall in its churn rate and added 7,100 in new customers in the first three months of this year.
