Virgin Media’s Conlon lands Barclaycard mobile job

Barclaycard has confirmed the appointment of John Conlon, ex-marketing controller of digital services for Virgin Media, as its mobile marketing head.

Conlon has taken on the role of senior business development manager of mobile innovations for the payment business to drive Barclaycard’s mobile payments platform. He left Virgin Media in May after nine years (nma 13 May 2009).

The move was first revealed by new media age in July as Barclaycard kicked off its largest ever mobile ad push for its Waterslide campaign (nma 23 July 2009).

In March, Barclaycard agreed a deal with Orange which will see the two companies working closely together on a range of contactless payment services.
