Virgin Trains to review marketing roster

Virgin Trains is reviewing its advertising, digital and direct marketing accounts following a restructure of its marketing department. RKCR/Y&R has held the advertising account for more than a decade, while Craik Jones and Glue London are incumbent on the direct and digital business.

A tender notice will be posted through ths Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) shortly. The review will be led by sales and marketing director Sarah Copley. She was appointed to the role after the departure of Craig Inglis, now at John Lewis as head of brand communications.

Inglis left the train operating company after a decade in November last year following the loss of its Cross Country network to Arriva in July. Virgin now only holds the West Coast rail franchise.

A campaign created by RKCR featuring cowboys and Indians was referred to the Advertising Standards Authority in September 2006, but was cleared of complaint of being offensive.
