Virgin TV marketing chief steps down

Virgin Media TV brand and marketing director Jeff Dodds is understood to have stepped down from his role in what is thought to be an internal move, according to agency news and comment website Pitch.

He has taken the title Virgin Media director of internal communications and engagement.

Dodds has been in the role since March 2009, when he joined Virgin from Callaway Golf where he was EMEA marketing director.

At Virgin Media TV, Dodds was responsible for the launch of the Red– the knitted puppet as the face of Virgin 1. At the time of his appointment, he was tasked with reinvigorating the broadcaster and led all aspects of brand and strategy for the company’s portfolio of brands, which include Living, Bravo, Challenge, Trouble and Virgin 1. Dodds was also responsible for promoting the individual titles aired across those channels, including shows such as America’s Next Top Model and Grey’s Anatomy.

Prior to this he was head of marketing for Honda’s UK operation.

Last year Virgin Media TV appointed Brooklyn Brothers to its advertising business.

Virgin Media was formed as a new entertainment and communications company in February 2007, the hybrid child of a merger between NTL, Telewest, Virgin Mobile and Virgin.net.
