Virgin1 to be named Channel One
Freeview channel Virgin1, recently acquired by BSkyB, will be rebranded Channel One on 3 September.
Sky bought the Virgin Media TV division for £160m and has placed the acquired channels under the banner The Living TV Group.
Channel One will continue to be broadcast in the same slots on; Freeview, Sky (and Virgin Media and the schedule and programming stays the same, made up of US imports, and British home-grown and original content. The broadcaster has just acquired the digital terrestrial rights for US science-fiction series V to show
Channel One has new logo and will overhaul all on and off-air branding. The channel’s website changes to www.mychannelone.co.uk and viewers will be informed of the name change by a series of on-air promos, idents and continuity announcements.
